Lean Leadership Training

Lean Leadership training provides public sector leaders a unique opportunity to learn how to apply advanced leadership thinking from the field of Lean Enterprise to their day-to-day work to create and sustain breakthrough improvements as well as ongoing habits of continuous improvement.

This area is relevant to Leaders (Senior Manager to ADM) who wish to start or strengthen a Lean transformation in their area of responsibility OR wish to learn more about how they, as leaders, can apply Lean thinking to increase their own leadership and team effectiveness, even they are not planning or involved in a formal Lean transformation.

Lean Leadership training is comprised of:

This one-day course is an introduction to the fundamentals of Lean process improvement, continuous improvement and innovation for government and knowledge workers delivered from the point of view of leaders who have a unique role to play in leading a Lean transformation and eliminating certain kinds of wastes.

Lean Agility offers public deliveries of this course for individuals and small groups. Larger groups (20+) can be accommodated in a dedicated session, customized to fit the specific needs of the organization.

This three-day course includes an introduction to the fundamentals of the Lean improvement approach emphasizing the role of a leader at each stage of implementation as well as an exploration of what Lean leaders do differently to create efficiency and effectiveness, measure performance, and empower people for better results. The program focuses on developing the knowledge and skills of leaders as they either lead a Lean transformation, or simply apply their learnings to increase their personal and team effectiveness outside of a formal Lean transformation. The content covered within this course includes that which is covered in the Lean White Belt for Leaders and features a module on Lean Strategic Planning (Hoshin Kanri).

This one-day course explores the Lean approach to strategic and operational planning known as Hoshin Kanri. The content is geared to Leaders (Senior Managers to Executives) who are charged with creating and implementing strategic plans for their organization, branch, department, or work unit, who wish to create better, more realistic, plans and strategies that make breakthrough progress.

Equipped with a Hoshin Kanri workbook (provided in Excel) participants leave the course able to apply what they’ve learned to develop better plans for their organization that are:

  • focused on the right problems (the must-do, can’t fail priorities);
  • matched with available capacity;
  • supported and owned by all levels of the organization;
  • executed with a framework in place to monitor progress, maintain focus, and overcome obstacles

Lean Agility offers public deliveries of this course for individuals and small groups in partnership with the Telfer Centre for Executive Leadership. Larger groups (20+) can be accommodated with a dedicated session, customized to the fit the specific needs of the organization.
